Patna, May 24: In a significant step towards the revival of Bhojpuri cinema, Skmakhi Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. and filmmaker Chetna Jha jointly organized the first-ever “Maha Press Conference” today at the prestigious Hotel Maurya in Patna. The event was dedicated to promoting clean, family-friendly Bhojpuri films, upholding the dignity of the language, and revitalizing regional cinema.
The conference was graced by the presence of Shri Motilal Prasad, Hon’ble Minister of Art, Culture & Youth, Bihar Government; Shri Raju Kumar Singh, Hon’ble Minister of Tourism; and Chetna Jha, filmmaker and cultural advocate.
Chetna Jha Calls for Cultural Reawakening in Bhojpuri Cinema
Speaking at the event, Chetna Jha said, “Bhojpuri cinema had a proud beginning with the blessings of the Father of the Nation, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Sadly, its dignity has faded over time. We now need refined language, positive themes, and meaningful storytelling.”
She announced her upcoming film ‘Anmol Ghadi’, which will be shot across Bihar, and emphasized that the focus will be on producing clean, inspirational content that resonates with the youth. She also proposed holding discussions with theatre owners and distributors to create a roadmap that prioritizes such films.
Bihar Government’s Support for Quality Regional Films
Minister Shri Motilal Prasad reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting high-quality films in regional languages, especially Bhojpuri. “If 75% of a film is shot in Bihar, it will be eligible for a subsidy of up to ₹4 crore. Bhojpuri is our mother tongue — it should be associated with excellence, not obscenity. We support films with pure language, strong social messages, and cultural values,” he said.
Tourism Minister Highlights Bihar as a Film-Friendly Destination
Tourism Minister Shri Raju Kumar Singh highlighted the vast potential of Bihar in art, culture, and tourism. “We are committed to providing all necessary support to filmmakers. Historical locations like Gaya, Valmikinagar, and Vaishali are being developed as prime shooting destinations,” he said. He also mentioned that projects worth ₹800 crore have been approved under the Chief Minister’s progress mission to enhance tourism and culture in the state.
Joint Call for Policy to Promote Clean Content
The press conference concluded with a joint appeal that it is time for Bhojpuri and other regional languages of Bihar to be given the respect and dignity they deserve. Chetna Jha proposed that the government should formulate a clear policy in consultation with theatre owners and film distributors to give priority to clean, meaningful cinema and restrict content that is vulgar or offensive.
This “Maha Press Conference” marks a new beginning for Bhojpuri cinema — one that aims to restore its lost glory through quality storytelling and cultural pride.
