Bihar Leads in Employment Generation, Migration Declining

Target of 50 Lakh Jobs Set to Be Achieved

12 Lakh Government Jobs and 38 Lakh Other Employment Opportunities

  • Since 2020, approximately 7.24 lakh government jobs have been provided.
  • This year, around 5 lakh more government jobs will be offered.

Patna, March 4: Bihar is emerging as a leader in employment generation, significantly reducing migration. Under the Saat Nishchay-2 scheme, the target for job creation has been increased to 12 lakh government jobs and 38 lakh other employment opportunities.

Previously, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had set a goal of 10 lakh government jobs and 10 lakh other jobs under this scheme. This target has now been expanded, aiming to provide a total of 50 lakh employment opportunities by next year.

Migration on the Decline

In recent years, migration from Bihar to other states in search of employment has witnessed a sharp decline. A few years ago, an estimated 5 crore people from Bihar migrated for work. However, this number is now decreasing as more people choose to stay and work within the state. The continuous creation of job opportunities in Bihar has been a major factor in this trend.

Government Jobs on the Rise

Since 2020, Bihar has provided approximately 7.24 lakh government jobs, making a significant impact nationwide. The state has attracted thousands of youth from other regions seeking government employment. Bihar has now become a preferred destination for job seekers across the country.

According to data from the e-Shram portal, 2.9 crore people have migrated to other states for employment. However, with increasing job opportunities in Bihar, this trend is reversing.

Investment in Development and Infrastructure

During his Pragati Yatra, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar approved Rs 50,000 crore for infrastructure and development projects. This investment is expected to create over 50 lakh jobs.

The state government is actively connecting youth with employment through various initiatives, including skill development training, industrial expansion, and government job appointments.

Support for Entrepreneurship and Women Employment

The Bihar government is also providing financial assistance to help youth become entrepreneurs. Various schemes have been introduced to support different sections of society in setting up businesses. This has led to a significant rise in young entrepreneurs across the state.

Additionally, the government is promoting women’s employment by offering reservations in government jobs and integrating women into economic activities through Jeevika. As a result, Bihar now has the highest number of women employed in the police force.

Growth in Agriculture and Infrastructure

Bihar’s farmers are benefiting from numerous government schemes, boosting prosperity and reducing migration. The rapid development of infrastructure and the manufacturing sector is also creating employment opportunities for millions of people, both directly and indirectly.

With continuous efforts towards job creation and economic growth, Bihar is set to achieve its ambitious employment target while ensuring sustainable development for its residents.
